One of the first steps when thinking about buying a home is to talk with a lender to get pre-approved. There will be an application that you will fill out over the phone, in person, or online. This will give the lender your basic information. From here, they will need some documents to verify certain information.
* Copy of your photo ID.
* Past two months of bank statements.
* Past two years of tax returns and W-2's.
* One full month of pay stubs.
These are just some of the basic documents that they will be asking you for. Depending on your situation, they may need some more documents. Having these basic forms ready when you talk to your lender will help to get the ball rolling quickly.
